A horse that is hit with a Wayshrine buff will always be granted a speed boost regardless of the intended effect of that Wayshrine.

Instructions

1. Position a horse near any Wayshrine such that the horse will be between the player and the center of Wayshrine when the Wayshrine is activated. It is easiest to do this by positioning the horse directly on top of the wayshrine.
2. Dismount the horse and activate the Wayshrine, moving to put the horse between the player and the center of the Wayshrine if necessary.
3. Assuming the spell cast by the Wayshrine hit the horse rather than the player, the horse should now have its speed buffed permanently.

Additional Notes

• Fortify Speed effects increase a horse's effective movement speed far more than when used on the player.
• A more powerful but temporary speed boost can be created through the use of custom spells cast on the horse, creating a Spell Stacking feedback loop or through custom potions that both restore health and fortify speed via the Shadowmere Potions glitch.
• While this glitch increases the horse's move speed dramatically, it still takes fall damage, making it very easy to accidentally kill your horse if not riding uphill or on flat ground. This can be mitigated by performing this glitch on Shadowmere in combination with Shadowmere Potions, placing large amounts of instant restore health potions in Shadowmere's inventory.

This glitch requires further research to fully understand its mechanics. Some information in this section is currently speculation.

According to the UESP horses page, the Wayshrine applies a permanent Fortify Speed 110 effect on the horse.
