Saddling is a variation of Load Warping where the player loads a save file of a character that is sitting down as they go through a door, placing the selected save file character on the other side of the door instead of the original one, while also retaining the coordinates of the seated character. This typically results in the character being placed out of bounds or in advantageous locations.

Instructions

  1. Have two save files. The first save file can be any character, as long as it is in front of a door leading to the cell you wish to teleport another character to. The second save file is the character that is sitting in a chair at the desired coordinates you wish to spawn at in the next cell the door will place you in.
  2. On the first save file, stand in front of the door you want to teleport the other character through, and bring up the pause menu and enter the door on the same frame. You will know this worked if you hear the door opening sound effect, but your character has not gone through the door, and the pause menu is open.
  3. Load the second save file, which is the character that is at the coordinates you wish to appear at in the next cell.
  4. Your second save file will now spawn in the cell the original save file was supposed to spawn in, but also be at the coordinates it was originally sitting down at.

Additional Notes

  • This glitch will work on any seated character, including benches, chairs, saddles, etc.
  • In situations where both characters on each save file do not have the proper key/lockpicks required to get through the door, this glitch will not work.
  • In situations where you are load warping a character into an adjacent room, such as from the first room of a dungeon into the second room, this glitch may not work.
  • Saddling a character into the overworld/outside in cities can cause issues such as doors not being able to be entered.
  • The first save file can be any character, even a completely different one from the character you intend to load warp into the next room.

Mechanics

CatPiss.png This glitch requires further research to fully understand its mechanics. Some information in this section is currently speculation.

A graphic showing how Saddling coordinates work. The Tomato Man sitting in the chair in his cell has similar coordinates to the coin in the cell the Corn Man is about to enter. This means that Saddling the Tomato Man save into the Corn Man cell will result in Tomato Man spawning where the coin is. It helps to imagine the cells overlapping each other.

We have a tool for calculating the best chair for saddling to any desired coordinates.

This glitch appears to work for the same reasons that Load Warping works, but with the seated character position taking priority on load-in over the door's spawning script.
