This page will be fully written once all RNG sources have been compiled here.
Random Number Generation (or RNG for short) is essentially randomness that the player is not intended to have control over. For example, every time the player open a loot container, the game calls random numbers to determine what loot will be in the chest. In general, every speedrun aims to mitigate RNG as much as possible since it prevents the player from having direct control over the outcome of the game, resulting in a potentially large time loss.
Sources of RNG
Here is a list of all problematic sources of RNG:
- Random Skill Books - Certain skill books can only be found in random loot, requiring an hour of grinding on average.
- Rumor topics to start quests - A single one still remains.
- Contracting Porphyric Hemophilia.
- Getting a Black Soul Gem as a drop without having to make one.
Here is a list of previously problematic sources of RNG and their solutions:
- Finding Yarn in a container - A concrete source was found in the Bloated Float Inn.
