Dodge Clipping is a Save Clip variation where the player can clip through walls and objects to get out of bounds by using an Acrobatic dodge.
Instructions
- Reach level 50+ in Acrobatics to unlock the dodge perk.
- Face the wall you intend to clip through, then hold block and press to jump execute a dodge. Quicksave after the player has hit the wall/object, the sooner the better. Dodging into corners tends to work best, or sometimes a perpendicular angle to a flat wall.
- Exit to the main menu of the game via the Escape Key menu or enter a new area of the game.
- Load your quicksave and hold running forward while the screen is loading.
- Your character will sometimes end up carrying their dodge animation straight through the wall, allowing you to move out of bounds.
Additional Notes
- This glitch is partially luck dependent. Not all walls can be clipped through as easily as another. Flatter walls tend to work better.
- In rare situations, you can clip through walls without needing to save to execute the clip. This has been observed specifically on the gate to the Arcane University.
- This tech is almost always less practical than a normal Save Clip with a high movement speed due to how hard it is to line up, although dodges are faster than the regular movement speed and therefore should work more often in theory for a skilled player.
Mechanics
Dodge Clipping works because the player loads into the game before the walls do, allowing them a short amount of time to move past the wall before it loads in. This is why running into a corner or with a more perpendicular angle will result in a greater success rate, as the player will be moved farther past the wall in the window of time before the wall loads in properly. This is also why flatter walls are easier to clip through. A curved wall has multiple planes of collision the player must move past, whereas a flat wall only has the single plane of collision. The player's dodge speed is always faster than their movement speed, meaning that dodges will sometimes be able to clip through areas a normal Save Clip cannot.
The unloading and reloading of a cell can be performed in two different ways as mentioned in the instructions. Leaving the cell in-game or quitting to the main menu will cause the game to reload all of the terrain again upon loading the quicksave.
