The Elder Scrolls Anthology 100% speedrun is a stretch goal to design and execute 100% speedrun categories for every "Anthology" game in the Elder Scrolls franchise, as defined below. The intent is to perform every game's individual 100% run back to back in a single segment and optimize the time as far as possible.

Games

Definitions

There are several games in the Elder Scrolls franchise outside of the main games, so a set of criteria needs to be established to determine which ones are considered part of the "Anthology". The following statement and its definitions are used to define the Anthology 100% category:

The goal is to 100% speedrun all of the Bethesda Softworks developed Elder Scrolls video games, including all official, digitally available, gameplay-related DLC that is compatible with the latest version of each game.

  1. The descriptor Bethesda Softworks developed games limits the scope of this challenge only to Elder Scrolls games directly made by the original developer/publisher of the franchise.
    • This removes several largely impractical games from the requirements, including Elder Scrolls Online, Blades, Legends, Skyrim Pinball, Oblivion Mobile, and the Travels mobile games (Stormhold, Dawnstar, and Shadowkey).
  2. The descriptor video games limits the scope to further to eliminate games that lack graphics or are other types of games such as board games.
    • This removes Skyrim Very Special Edition, and Call to Arms.
  3. The descriptor official, digitally available, gameplay-related DLC excludes any DLC that can only be obtained through 3rd party downloads or obtaining old physical copies, as well as ones that do not add any new gameplay.
    • This omits all of the minor DLC from Morrowind, as well as the High Resolution Texture Pack and Fall of the Space Core, Vol 1 for Skyrim.

Required Games

This leaves the following games and DLC, played in the following order:

  1. The Elder Scrolls: Arena
  2. The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall
  3. An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire
  4. The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard
  5. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
    • With Tribunal and Bloodmoon DLC
  6. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
    • With Shivering Isles, Knights of the Nine, Horse Armor Pack, Orrery, Wizard's Tower, Thieves Den, Mehrunes' Razor, Vile Lair, Spell Tomes, and Fighter's Stronghold DLC.
  7. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
    • With Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn DLC along with all Creation Club content.

If future Elder Scrolls games are developed by Bethesda Softworks, such as the upcoming Elder Scrolls VI, they will be included.

Additional Notes

  • Morrowind's DLC is only officially available through the GOG version.
  • There are some DOSBox emulation discrepancies that will need to be standardized in the rules.

Rules

  1. The games must be ran in the order they were released in, as indicated in the table above.
  2. Games cannot be played simultaneously.
  3. The timer does not stop between games.
  4. No significant obstruction of gameplay footage that could be exploited to cheat.
  5. No use of external programs to interact with or modify the game, including mods, auto scripts, etc.

Progress

Here is a summary of each game's progress towards a 100% run, broken up into the phases of category creation and optimization.

Game Game Familiarity Category Design Routing Version Optimization Time Estimate Notes
Arena 0% 0% V0 None N/A Have not started this game yet.
Daggerfall 0% 0% V0 None N/A Have not started this game yet.
Battlespire 0% 0% V0 None N/A Have not started this game yet.
Redguard 65% 85% V0 None ~4:00:00 Played through most of the game. Limited scope of the game makes it fairly easy to pin down the category definition. A full run of the game normally only takes 2 hours, and the 100% requirements would add very little time to that.
Morrowind 0% 0% V0 None N/A Have not started this game yet.
Oblivion 100% 90% V4* High ~17:00:00 Highly optimized tech and routing knowledge, but in a non-DLC category. Need to update the route to have DLC for this category. DLC probably adds a couple hours.
Skyrim 40% 40% V0 None N/A Played through a good portion of the game. Category is partially defined, but several objectives need to be confirmed and compiled. Rough ideas for routing using glitches have been formed.
