Early Arcane University Access is a glitch that allows you unlock the Praxographical Center, Mystic Archives, and Chironasium at the Arcane University without needing to complete the Joining the Mages Guild quest first. This is currently the fastest known method of gaining access to spellmaking and enchanting in the vanilla game.

Instructions

  1. Complete Light the Dragonfires and start Imperial Dragon Armor. This can be done using the Dragonfire Skip glitch.
  2. Make sure to talk to Ocato after the cutscene ends, as talking to him is what unlocks the doors for you.
  3. Find a way past the iron gates since these will not be unlocked. Save Clipping or Boost Jumping are recommended.
  4. The Praxographical Center, Mystic Archives, and Chironasium will be unlocked and available for spellmaking and enchanting.

Additional Notes

  • This glitch seems to cause stability issues when loading old save files. The game crashes frequently when attempting to load saves after performing this glitch.
  • You can use a dummy save that has this glitch active on it to Load Warp another character into the various rooms that unlock. The main doors will not work, but load warping through the upstairs interior doors will.

Mechanics

CatPiss.png This glitch requires further research to fully understand its mechanics. Some information in this section is currently speculation.

Code analysis needs to be performed to determine the exact cause of this glitch. It is possibly due to a programming bug where faction status is incorrectly updated upon finishing the Main Quest. It is unknown why the Final Cutscene Skip glitch interferes with this. More testing needs to be done.
